Weeeeell, time sure passes really fast for some reason. The last time I wrote one of these was at the end of 2024, and now, a month shy of summer 2026, I've sat down to write another one... even though I don't even know exactly what I'll write, and it'll mostly be just me ranting about stuff that won't really make any sense in the first place to a lot of you, though some might connect with what I'm saying.
Well, let's begin with the past year, in which I almost had to work seven days out of seven for 8 months straight (nobody forced me, chill y'all!). I had to work that much mainly because I wanted to be out of the house, my work was/is really fun to do, and because my co-workers and boss are extremely fun to be around, and they accept me for who I am with no question and let me do whatever I want as long as we all enjoy our time together and do our work.
Now, in that regard, my boss's daughter gave birth at the end of 2025 and my boss became a grandma... something I couldn't be happier about for her and her family, but I'm a bit scared as well because she tried to have me pick up the baby and I'm not really sure about that one, lol.
I almost didn't go back to work again this season (my work is seasonal and I prefer it that way, beat it, donuts) as I was trying to get my life together and maybe work in a different field, but it didn't work out at all, as they tried to take advantage of my experience and not pay me a fair wage for some reason, even though I had talked with the HR lad and she told me that we'd talk money again when I started working... and for some reason the lad took back her word and they didn't even want to talk to me about it, so donuts x300000.
Now that my work saga has ended, I want to talk a bit about what we'll do for our scanlation uploads and where we'll upload our chapters from now on... again, a bit late after the whole clown fiesta that happened with MangaDex 10 months or so ago.
I'm just going to pretty much tell you some facts, where I, personally, stand on the whole situation, and how things will work for us (even though a lot of you already get my drift on things).
Let's start with the MangaDex saga and where I stand on that whole situation (both fiestas):
When the whole situation happened and they nuked half of their database a few months ago, I really thought it was jover for the community, but then I discovered that a group of people were scraping their whole database, and it seems they had archived up to 95% by the time of the takedown, so that gave another light/perspective to the whole situation.
Now we can hope that a lot of the manga they nuked (without warning!!!) are mostly archived and gonna end up uploaded somewhere in their uncompressed resolution, and we can all enjoy the chapters in their original size and format without worrying that we're reading compressed trash pages that probably no one will care about, and just consuming all the crap that aggregators are throwin' at readers without them knowing.
I don't really want to get into the whole situation again, but the moment I learned about the whole DMCA fiasco, I stopped uploading on the site, and I don't see myself going back and uploading anything more there at any point...
I'm also thinking of requesting that our chapters (or at least the remaining ones) be deleted or, because I would hate doing that, just locking the group and not letting anyone upload unless they are a staff member who wants to upload a series on the site on their own, knowing the risks they'll take when they upload a chapter on their site.
Update: seems like MangaDex is going another route with the DMCA aspect and now everyone that gets 30 chapters hit with a DMCA will get their uploading permissions removed and there is no way of appealing that as of writing this message.
The allegations from a mod on the MangaDex forum and the uproar of the community:
Pretty much, the mod ended up getting no penalty for what they said and even tried to spit out some crap about a miscommunication on the matter, and tried to lawyer-talk things in another post, which ended up making things worse.
When the staff saw that the community was barraging them for almost two days straight, and even people who either never had an account on the site or never used the forum ended up trashing them for what they'd done, and every single mod and dev (poor Xnot) got crapped on, they ended up trying to patch things here and there, came back with more lawyer-talk, and ended up banning a bunch of people for abusing the report button on the site.
They even banned a friend of mine in the community when they got word from someone on a Discord server (I believe it was their server) that they were planning to do the same to mess about with them, and for some reason the MangaDex mods saw that and ended up banning them... not sure if that counts as an abuse of power, but at this point every mod on MangaDex is tripping for some reason, and they end up making things worse in the whole situation and in general.
If anyone wants to read the whole forum thread, you can find it here.
That was pretty much all that happened in the past year or so with MangaDex, but... there is more for some reason...
People in the community are trying to tell others (not sure why you should fanboy so much over a site) and the rest of the community that MangaDex isn't a legal company THAT uses pirated manga to support whatever they are trying to support.
They have registered MangaDex with the UK gov site, and it is now (from 1st of August 2025) listed as Mangadex UK LTD. So, pretty much all these people who are saying that MangaDex isn't a legal company should look into it and see what happens after they announc--- yeah, they're never going to announce something like that, from what we've all seen from the MangaDex staff and now the owner of MangaDex.
I'm just waiting for people to bite their tongues when they turn fully corpo and delete everything except crappy self-hosting webcomics. The fun part is still to be unveiled, and even though they have so many rules now on what goes on the site, and even ads (which they said would be there for a while, but I don't see them going down EVER, even though Holo said he'd never use ads when he was the admin on the site), I can wait for the day this happens and we end up losing everything because of what they are doing.

Update 2: seems like at this point there are adding more and more "official publishers" on their site as well, at least that was the case so things might be moving a bit faster than I thought, too.
Anyhow, MangaDex is not a place where I'm willing to personally upload again, so we're only gonna use our site. If people want to read something from us, they can do so on our site and contact us through any means they want until something better comes up.
We kinda had something better that resembled KissManga (for the few who remember the site) called WeebDex, but it died down on the 7th of April, and now most of the community that does not want to upload on MangaDex is waiting for the next best thing... if anything comes up again.
Update 3: there are a few other options right now, but don't like any of them. That might be the UI, admins or anything in-between.
Now... I kinda forgot to continue with this one for a while (about 2 weeks or so... more like 3 months at this point...) and I'm just sitting down to write a few more things that come to mind.
First things first... yeah, I've got nothing else I want to say right now, so it'll have to wait a few more days and hopefully I can continue.
Again, I'm gonna finish this today and get it out 'cause I'm never gonna do it if not today... I do need to keep a better schedule for these things at this point.
I got to watch a few more anime this season (summer), including some new ones not this season, and I've enjoyed most of them. It's fun to get back into anime after a while. I did finish Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and it was a fun; now we're gonna have to wait a bit for the second season.
Now I have to finish SANDA, Tanya the Evil, and a few other anime before the winter season fully starts (gonna watch Overgeared today!), and then I'll be good to go.
As for the scanlation aspect, I hope to finish TECM or at least catch up with the RAWs so I can focus on the other series that are a bit slower because of my work.
That's it for this time. Happy reading, and enjoy your days!
P.S.: I hope to see you soon!
P.S.2: with so many updates you can only imagine how long it took me to finish this one... things change so fast, lol.
